When You Forget to Be Careful

There’s always something, isn’t there? That one little thing you’re convinced I notice right away. The thing you can’t quite let go of.  Maybe it’s your hair, the way you’re sitting, something you said a minute ago that you’re already replaying in your head. I can almost see it. That tiny shift where you check yourself, adjust just slightly, wonder how you’re coming across. It’s endearing, honestly. Because everyone does it.

We all walk in carrying a little awareness of ourselves. A quiet question running in the background. Do I look right? Am I saying the right thing? But here’s the part people don’t expect. That thing you’re focused on?  It’s not what I even notice.

What stands out is the moment you forget about it. The second you stop thinking about how you look, or how you sound, or whether you’re doing everything “right” and just settle into the moment. That’s when everything shifts. You relax. You smile without thinking about it. You start enjoying yourself a little more than you planned to. And suddenly, that’s what I notice.

Not the small thing you were worried about, but the way you feel when you let it go. The ease, the confidence, the quiet kind of presence that doesn’t ask for attention… but gets it anyway. So whatever it is you think I’m noticing… you can let it go. I’m much more interested in the moment you forget to be careful… that’s usually when things get interesting. 💋
