There are things we learn over time, and then there are things we simply know. Not because someone taught us, but because they’re right. They settle quietly, they feel good without argument or explanation.
Here are a few things I know for sure.
I know that kindness is never the wrong choice.
I know that choosing love, in big ways or small ones, is always the right thing.
I know that cruelty is loud, but it isn’t strong.
I know that most people want to be seen more than they want to be understood.
I know that attention is precious, and where I place it matters.
I know that not every thought deserves a response, and not every moment needs an audience.
I know that bodies carry stories, and none of them are simple.
I know that confidence doesn’t come from perfection, but from accepting that you’re not.
I know that intimacy is quiet, deliberate, and often subtle.
I know that boundaries aren’t walls. They’re clarity.
I know that explaining yourself too much usually means you’re trying to convince yourself and not others.
I know that peace comes less from winning and more from choosing what you no longer engage with.
I know that curiosity is kinder than judgment.
I know that the ordinary becomes magical the moment you start paying attention.
And I know that I don’t need to have everything figured out to trust where I am.
These are the things I know for sure right now.
They may change. Some probably won’t.
Either way, they feel good.
The world can be loud, and it’s easy to forget what you know. When that happens, I come back to these truths and remember who I am. And I like her.
